FROM MLK’s AMERICAN DREAM to the NATIONALIST POPULIST TRUMPIST NIGHTMARE… Part 1

By men’s actions and the fruits of their deeds we’ll know them… None-the-less, by their DREAMS we can recognize the Content of their CHARACTER…

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today…

I have a dream that one day down in Alabama with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today…”MLK August 28, 1963 – MARCH ON WASHINGTON FOR JOBS AND FREEDOM…

Reverend Martin Luther King DREAMS and visions were more monumental and colossal than that… They embraced the American Society as a whole, they embraced Planet Earth as a whole…

“Every nation must now develop an overriding loyalty to mankind as a whole in order to preserve the best in their individual societies.” MLK New York City, April 4, 1967…

MLK Jr – always — in his unwavering LOVE for America, in his forgiving compassionate heart he could find the optimism to recognize America’s greatness, inherent in our nation’s Destiny…

“Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” From MLK “I Have A Dream” speech in Washington, DC on August 28, 1963.

He recognized in his Dreams that America was also that remarkable lighthouse full of brightness that would guide and illuminate the rest of the world, to which we would bestow our precious collective Democratic Character, as well as the luster of our Freedom, as stated in the US Constitution that all women and men are created equal under the law, with the same rights, with the same opportunities; where racism and bigotry has no place to be, and supremacy is un-acceptable, because it doesn’t come from the color of anyone’s skin but instead, to be extraordinary is a possibility only depending on the Content of our Character, our intelligence, and education…

“All we say to America is, ‘Be true to what you said on paper.’ If I lived in China or even Russia, or any totalitarian country, maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic First Amendment privileges, because they hadn’t committed themselves to that over there. But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of the press. Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right.” MLK, I HAVE BEEN TO THE MOUNTAINTOP Speech – one day before he was killed — April 3, 1968…

MLK Jr was a man of CHARACTER with capital letters, who walked the walk, and talked the talk; who made us understand the importance of living a life of great integrity and honesty, of Unity in Diversity, without discriminations, with an open heart and mind, embracing our differences, and the TRUTH, as our only guide, as our ever to be followed North Star…

“If we are to have peace on earth, our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. Our loyalties must transcend our race, our tribe, our class, and our nation; and this means we must develop a world perspective.” MLK Christmas sermon, Atlanta, Georgia, 1967…

MLK Jr was one of the greatest men America gave to the world…
Indeed, we had many other great Americans and no matter if they were Democrats or Republicans we could always find their greatness and be able to admire so many of our opponents in opinion, in political and social views, and in spite of that we could also recognize the wonderful qualities of their Characters…
That’s exactly what MADE AMERICA GREAT in not such a distant past and before the MAGA – Make AmeriKKKa Great Again — Movement, giving way to an unfortunate re-birth to all of those ills in our society; which we already thought we practically and almost eradicated, mainly by electing Barack Obama as our 44 POTUS and our first black President, achieving in the process  MLK’s DREAM and making it a reality…!!!
But not quite yet…
To have a BLACK man in the WHITE House, unearthed – for many intolerant bigoted Americans — a sordid and dark past that like demons started to crawl from underneath our sacred land, and from its cracks, and from its caves, and under a diabolical movement that started by hiding behind false religious and spiritual pretenses, in the name of a none existent Jesus, customized to the hatred, racism, anti-democratic and anti-constitutional populist nationalist cult, creating what we know today as the nefarious TRUMPISM…
Where did MLK Jr teachings and legacy go; and from so many other Americans that made US so proud…??? Many, members of the Grand Old Party – the GOP — leaders like Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, John McCain who performed their civil and political duties to a nation and the Constitution that they loved and respected so much…
How could have US fallen so low, how’s it possible that so many Americans have so pathetically been duped by the renewed  retrograde belief that our diversity must be abolished, that supremacy exists only for the white, that other races and creeds different from the supremacist whiteness are inferior…???
How’s it possible that in this day and age, the hatred and disrespect extends itself also against our Constitution, against our Democratic Institutions when in Jan/06/2020 the nation experienced an attempted coup, invented and incited by the still in office President Donald Trump, who didn’t want to accept – not even today — the will of the majority of Americans who voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential Elections…

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” MLK Jr’s Letter from Birmingham, Alabama jail, April 16, 1963…

Trump committed sedition by inciting to overthrow the recent fair and legal elected new government, so he – Donald Trump — in a despicable act of misplaced loyalty could stay in power by force and with the support of violent Populists, White Supremacists, Neo-Nazis and Christian Nationalists violent groups and militias, who The Donald rallied beforehand, allowing them to conduct the – failed, thank God — take over and almost destruction of the Capitol Hill, where Congress and our Legislative Institution resides…
Trump wasn’t alone, he was aided and supported by other Republicans and Loyalists, who’re the same ones that dangerously are sitting in several  pivotal Congressional Committees of our House of Representatives…
These congressional domestic terrorists belong to the radical faction of the Republican Party, the same Freedom Caucus that helped hijack Congress in 2020 as well as now in January of 2023, to get by ways of extortion from the – very politically weakened — Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, all the concessions requested by them, in exchange of the votes he needed to finally be able to seize the House’s gavel…
So, my beloved America, what’s next, now that these anti-American and anti-Democratic Conspiracy Theorists and QAnon elements have seized the House of Representatives’ power – even if their majority is so slim — they might cause great damage to our country; and the next question should be, how much damage and for how much longer…???

“We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” MLK Washington National Cathedral, March 31, 1968…

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.” MLK Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, Oslo, Norway, 1964…

Please, stay tuned for PART 2, where our answers will be revealed through the great wisdom of MLK Jr’s words…
